On June 23, 2026, Hateco Hai Phong International Container Terminal (HHIT) had the honor of welcoming a delegation from A.P. Moller – Maersk, led by Mr. Robert M. Uggla, Chairman of the Group, for an official visit and working session at the terminal. The occasion also provided an opportunity for both parties to reflect on the significant milestones achieved during the first year of HHIT’s operation.

During the meeting, Mr. Tran Van Ky, Chairman of Hateco Group, emphasized that Berths No. 5 and 6 at Lach Huyen Port stand as a testament to the effective cooperation between the two groups. Following a successful first year of operation, during which throughput exceeded planned targets, HHIT aims to maintain strong growth momentum in the years ahead.

Notably, the visit coincided with HHIT’s reception of the Triple-E vessel MATZ MAERSK, with a capacity of up to 214,000 DWT. This is the largest container vessel ever to call at Hai Phong seaport and the entire Northern Vietnam seaport. The event not only marks a historic milestone for Vietnam’s maritime industry but also further demonstrates HHIT’s capability to handle mega container vessels. This achievement was made possible through the guidance, support, and close coordination of the Ministry of Construction, the Vietnam Maritime and Inland Waterways Administration, Hai Phong Maritime Port Authority, Northern Vietnam Maritime Pilot Company, and other relevant agencies and organizations. HHIT would like to express our sincere appreciation to all government authorities whose support contributed to the successful berthing of the vessel.

The arrival of the Triple-E vessel represents not only a significant milestone for HHIT but also reflects the robust development of Vietnam’s maritime sector. According to the 2025 Container Port Performance Index (CPPI) jointly published by the World Bank and S&P Global Market Intelligence, the Hai Phong seaport cluster ranked 13th among the world’s top 20 best-performing container ports, further enhancing the position of Vietnamese seaports within global supply chains and maritime transport networks. Against this backdrop, the visit of the A.P. Moller – Maersk delegation further reinforces the strong strategic partnership between Hateco and Maersk, while opening up new opportunities for cooperation in developing a modern, efficient, and sustainable logistics ecosystem in Vietnam.
