On the morning of April 22, 2026, Hateco Hai Phong International Container Terminal (HHIT) once again affirmed its outstanding capabilities and marked a historic milestone by successfully receiving the mega vessel COSCO SHIPPING AQUARIUS. Measuring 400 meters in length with a deadweight of 197,087 DWT, the vessel is among the largest container vessels in the world and the biggest ever to call at a seaport in Northern Vietnam.

This remarkable event holds special significance - not only as a major milestone for HHIT, but also as the beginning of a new chapter in the more than 150-year history of Hai Phong’s seaport system. It clearly demonstrates the capability to accommodate ultra-large vessels in the Lach Huyen area, contributing to stronger international maritime connectivity, optimized logistics costs, and an enhanced position for Northern Vietnam’s seaports on the global trade map.
